Not every developer arrives at this work by way of a childhood spent taking computers apart. Anja Misan came at it from a different angle - through physics and maths, and a fairly stubborn idea that whatever she ended up doing, she wanted to build things people actually use. Four months into her first role as a Full Stack Developer, that combination is already proving to be a good fit.
Who She Is Today
At Loncom, Anja is a Full Stack Developer on Team Green, led by Djordje Momcilovic. She joined four months ago and has spent that time working across integrations, platform maintenance, and the connective tissue between systems that don't natively talk to each other. She's comfortable across the following:
| ✓ JavaScript & Node.js | ✓ React |
| ✓ SQL & Databases | ✓ HubSpot |
| ✓ Salesforce | ✓ API |
| ✓ Integration Work | |
The Road Here
"Physics and maths were my favourite subjects from middle school onwards, but I never wanted to stay purely on the theoretical side of them - I wanted to work in industry, to be an engineer. Software ended up being where those two things met. You're solving a problem properly, and at the end of it there's something real that works," Anja says.
That path ran through the University of Novi Sad, where she graduated from the Faculty of Sciences with a bachelor's degree in Information Technologies and a GPA of 9.2. Partway through, she spent a semester abroad at the University of Coimbra in Portugal, attending Master's-level studies in Informatics Engineering - a genuinely difficult stretch, and the one she credits with making her more resilient and more willing to take on things she isn't sure of yet. Loncom came not long after graduation, making it her first role in the field. She arrived already comfortable in the gap between systems, and that's largely where she's stayed.
A Project She's Proud Of
Ask Anja what she's proud of, and it's the integration work: connecting Evessio and Crowdcast to HubSpot so that event and webinar data flows into the CRM without anyone having to move it by hand. It's the kind of build where the difficulty is in the detail - matching records so the same person doesn't land in the system twice, getting attendance data to register correctly against the right marketing event, and handling all the small mismatches between how one platform describes something and how the other expects to receive it.
Alongside that, she maintains a client web platform and the Salesforce account behind it - keeping the data clean and the platform running day to day, a steady discipline separate from building something new.
Beyond the Office
Away from her desk, Anja is usually either moving or hunting for something in a rail of second-hand clothes:
|
🗣️
3 Languages Serbian (native), English (Cambridge Advanced, C2), and German, built up steadily over the years |
🎾
Sport on Rotation Gym, tennis and swimming, cycled through the week |
|
👗
Thrifting A long-running passion that turned into her own online second-hand store |
♻️
Slow Fashion A deliberate push back against overconsumption and fast fashion's environmental cost |
The second-hand store started as an extension of the hobby and has settled back into being one since she joined Loncom. The appeal was never only the finding, though - thrifting means building a wardrobe entirely on her own terms, from an unlimited pool of things nobody else is wearing, while keeping clothes in circulation instead of in landfill. As she puts it, it's the most enjoyable form of protest she's found.
