Meet the Team: Nemanja Nikolovski, CRM Developer at Loncom Consulting

Meet the Team: Nemanja Nikolovski

Not every software engineer starts out wanting to be one. Nemanja Nikolovski didn't - he tried acting first, then mechanical engineering, before landing on the thing that actually fit. He ended up a CRM Developer at Loncom, and it turns out the winding road suited him just fine.

Who He Is Today

At Loncom, Nemanja is a CRM Developer, working across client data and HubSpot instances - with a stint in Salesforce earlier in his time at Loncom. He's currently in his third year studying Computer Science and Software Engineering at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš, Serbia, balancing his studies alongside his work. He's comfortable across the following:
HubSpot Salesforce
C# Java
Python

The Road Here

Nemanja's path to software engineering wasn't a straight line. Growing up with wide-ranging interests, and after years in drama classes, he was convinced acting and directing were his calling. Before he'd even finished high school, he auditioned for the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade - a gruelling seven-day process that saw twenty candidates chosen out of five hundred applicants. He turned the place down, deciding that making a job out of a hobby is one of the worst things you can do to it.
From there, he took time to recalibrate, studying mechanical engineering for a year and a half before realising he'd swung too far the other way - solid ground for his problem-solving skills, but not much room for creativity. Software engineering turned out to be the middle ground: logic with space to think creatively, and the subject he's now in his third year of studying, alongside his work at Loncom. Along the way, he also got involved with SICEF, a student community running masterclasses, tutoring sessions, and events, including an annual technology conference and hackathon - picking up hands-on experience in event organising, sponsorship outreach, and sales along the way. After just a year as a member, he took on the role of Human Resources Manager. His team also took first place in the ITEF case study competition with a proposal on using drones for law enforcement, first response, and disaster relief, winning an internship at Schneider Electric along the way.

How He Thinks

"No matter how much you learn about systems and data, there's always so much more you don't know - and that's the beauty of it," Nemanja says. "Endless possibilities for learning and improving yourself and the systems you work with."

He's happiest when he can see his progress happening over time - taking a problem, learning about it from every angle, solving it, and watching it work: the data's clean, the platform's running properly, the client's happy. There are stressful moments, like in any job, but most of what he does is genuinely calming work. He draws heavily on the programming foundation he built at university - C#, Java, and Python among them - and is looking forward to putting even more of it to use as he takes on more complex client work.

Outside of Loncom, Nemanja is a jack of all trades. A quick snapshot:

He's also an avid reader and book club member - his all-time favorite is One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez - and a fan of story-driven games like The Last of Us. He returns to Portugal every year and is determined to explore every inch of it, with Iceland and Bhutan next on his list, and gravitates toward character-driven dramas like Breaking Bad, High Fidelity, and Fleabag.
He also speaks two languages - Serbian (native) and English (fluent) - and is currently learning Spanish, drawn in by his love of Spanish culture and the sound of the language itself.
