Meet the Team: Chris Goldthorpe, Growth Specialist at Loncom Consulting

Meet the Team: Chris Goldthorpe

Not every salesperson can say they came back from a broken neck to compete on a national bodybuilding stage. Chris Goldthorpe can - and the same habit that got him there, tracking everything and improving one small step at a time, is exactly what he now brings to the businesses he works with at Loncom.

Who He Is Today

Chris joined Loncom Consulting in September 2026 as Growth Specialist. He runs outbound sales across the UK: cold calling, field visits and consultative conversations with businesses that know their sales and systems could be working harder. He's also building Loncom's partner referral programme with trade associations, payment providers and banks, so their members and merchants can get a free sales and systems audit. Day to day, his work covers:
✓ Outbound sales across the UK ✓ Cold calling and field visits
✓ Consultative sales conversations ✓ Partner referral programme
✓ Trade association, payment provider and bank partnerships ✓ Free sales and systems audits

The Road Here

Chris has been in sales for more than 30 years, and he has run his own businesses too. In 2004 he founded The Air Conditioning Corporation (Midlands) and grew it to 26 employees. The company earned Daikin D1+ Partner status, which put it among the top 25 installers in the UK, and gained ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 accreditation within 52 weeks.
He then moved into payments with Cardsave. He built and led its Partnership Team, which generated £1.4M of new business each year. He was named Salesperson of the Year, and the prize was a trip to Dubai. After WorldPay acquired Cardsave, Chris worked as a Partnership Development Manager, recruiting web, digital and software partners in the UK and abroad.
In 2017 he founded Golden Rock Solutions, a financial services business specialising in Mortgages & Protection insurance. He ran everything himself, from marketing to credit control, and grew it year on year. Along the way he qualified in CeMAP and earned his HubSpot Inbound and Inbound Sales certifications.
"Every business I've worked in has taught me the same thing: the answers are always in the data. Small, measurable improvements add up to big results. That's exactly how Loncom works, which is why it felt like home straight away," says Chris Goldthorpe, Growth Specialist at Loncom Consulting.

A Project He's Proud Of

While he was at WorldPay, Chris won Tucasi.com, a client worth more than £300K in gross profit a year, from a major high-street bank. It took persistence, a deep understanding of what the client needed, and a proposal built on the numbers. Chris uses the same approach with every business he speaks to today.

Back From the Brink

A few years ago, a serious cycling accident left Chris with a broken neck and spine, among other injuries. Many people would have stepped back for good. Chris went back to the gym, rebuilt himself one rep and one meal at a time, and went on to compete in bodybuilding. He placed 6th in the UK at the UKBFF championships.
For Chris, training and diet go hand in hand: he tracks everything, makes small changes and measures the results. Some would call him very competitive, but as he sees it, he simply likes getting the best outcome.

Beyond the Office

Chris is a proud dad of two. When he's not in the gym, he's usually out in his campervan with his dog, Ree, looking for remote spots on the coast or in the hills.
